Nice Côte d'Azur Airport History
The first postal flights between Nice and Corsica occured in 1918. By the late 1920s the Nice Cote d'Azur Airport was established and was used by the Nice Flying Club.
During World War II, the Nice airport was used as a military and air force base, and in 1944 a tarmac-surface runway was eventually added. From the 1950s to the 1980s, Nice and the French Riviera area turned into an increasingly popular tourist attraction and destination, and in 1978 a second tarmac-runway was added.
The Nice Côte d'Azur Airport now has two different terminals, the original Terminal one, mainly international, and the new round Terminal two, mainly national.
